Practising parasols in preparation for finishing yesterday's painting. They are deceptively tricky, with their 8 slightly asymmetric segments - but I think that is part of their charm. I'd never noticed the curious shadows they cast before.

- My inspiration is heritage craft: I manipulate materials by scraping, scrubbing, twisting, weaving, beating, stitching, chipping, tearing and melting. I use an archaeological approach to investigate the layers of history: First I excavate and deconstruct traditional craft materials, then recombine them in unexpected ways to symbolise and emphasise their significance. In the process, I'm reconstructing and redefining myself.
