Chinese brushwork practice - my take on a famous, beautiful painting. This is my second attempt, after I'd discovered it is necessary to build up in layers, each shade darker than the last.

- My inspiration is heritage craft: I manipulate materials by scraping, scrubbing, twisting, weaving, beating, stitching, chipping, tearing and melting. I use an archaeological approach to investigate the layers of history: First I excavate and deconstruct traditional craft materials, then recombine them in unexpected ways to symbolise and emphasise their significance. In the process, I'm reconstructing and redefining myself.
