8 November 2009

Another day taken up with writing plans.  :(    Here's my first finished oil painting.  NOT a good result because it was supposed to be a study in tone, but I went mad and finished it.  Now it just looks like the sort of thing I used to do for A level.   Hmmm...

7 November 2009

Spent all day writing plans for the One-to-One.  It's getting hard to keep up with the sketching, with everything else that goes on.  It's getting dark early now, and I have to make sure Chester is walked before the fireworks start.  Nightmare!  They go on for days now, and he seems to get worse every year.  Rob home again - wearing a new Viking Skull t-shirt.  Not long ago his washing was all colourful, and had things like Thomas the Tank Engine on - now everything's black, with skulls!  He had a great time at the concert, even hugging/shaking hands with the band members.

Another full day teaching, as well as more preparations for tutoring.  Neil away in Telford, and Rob dropped off at his friend's ready to go to a Viking Skull gig at a club in London.  A quiet house with just Rosie and me!

I wish fireworks were just confined to today, like they used to be.  Chester hates them more every year!

4 November 2009

Spent the morning in school preparing for my new venture as a One-to-One tutor.  It is getting cold at night now so I've picked the rest of my tomatoes to ripen on the window sill in case they get nipped by frost.

Our first (oil) painting session at college.  We were just doing colour mixing exercises, so nothing worth photographing for the blog.  We learned lots of useful things though, including that colour theory is an artificial construct, and that colours are symbolic and cultural, so this influences how we perceive them.   So cool!  So we don't have to worry about colour theory, just paint what we see, or want to paint.  Huzzah!  Really pleased with this Nigella, by the way - so different from oils.

November already?!?

31 October 2009

I have found yet another use for John's squashes!  That brings the total to 5.  Helped with the have-a-go archery at the Samhain festival.  A good atmosphere, and I enjoyed listening to Molly's storytelling in the chieftain's roundhouse - a Viking story about giant quern stones, and a new version of Rumplestiltskin.  Great.
